I was born into a large family (nine brothers and sisters) in St. Louis, Missouri. I attended Drury University in Springfield, Missouri and graduated from Drury with a business degree and minors in economics and political science. I received my law degree from St. Louis University and have been licensed to practice law in Missouri since 1986 (in Illinois since 1987).

In 1986, I started my legal career working in a general litigation firm in downtown St. Louis. In 1993, I moved to Clayton, Missouri and formed my own firm. For fifteen years, I have concentrated my practice on personal injury claims mostly involving vehicle accidents. I have been given an "AV" rating from the legal publication Martin-Hubbell which was obtained by vote of other attorneys which practice law in the St. Louis area.

The cases that I handle are such that I receive a percentage of the overall recovery rather than receiving an hourly rate. If there is no recovery, then there will be no attorney's fee. I advance the costs for the cases that I handle and, if there is no recovery, then I do not charge my clients for those costs.

When I handle a case for a client, that client will be dealing with me and not any other attorney or paralegal. All calls made to my office will be promptly returned (usually within hours).
